Prayer of the Day  


Glorious Archangel St. Raphael, great prince of the heavenly court, you are illustrious for your gifts of wisdom and grace. You are a guide of those who journey by land or sea or air, consoler of the afflicted, and refuge of sinners. I beg you, assist me in all my needs and in all the sufferings of this life, as once you helped the young Tobias on his travels. Because you are the “medicine of God” I humbly pray you to heal the many infirmities of my soul and the ills that afflict my body. I especially ask of you the favour (here mention your special intention), and the great grace of purity to prepare me to be the temple of the Holy Spirit.  

Amen. 
  
Note: Every so often I post a prayer I use as part of my daily prayers. I went looking for another prayer to Saint Raphael as I already had a few to St. Michael and I found this one online.

My guardian angel, you are always near me, inspiring me to choose the good and strengthening me in the battle against Satan and the forces of evil. Keep me always aware of your presence and mindful of your inspirations. Be with me especially at the last moment of my life. Do not leave me, I beg you, until you see me safe in heaven, praising God and singing his mercies for all eternity. 

Amen.
  
Note: Every so often I post a prayer I use as part of my daily prayers. I came across this prayer in 2025 while reading a book. I copied the prayer but did not mark the source. I have added it to my afternoon prayers.

In 2024 I picked up the above volume because Father Mike Schmitz posted a video on St Michael’s Lent. I tried searching up some information about it and this was the only volume in English I could find. I picked two Litanies to pray each day through the Saint Michael's Lent. This one I prayer in the evenings, and the other in the morning. For years this one, Prayer to Saint Michael, has been part of my daily prayers, often prayer throughout the day.

leads me to salvation.

In 2024 I received the above volume. This prayer is one I read when flipping through and checking out various Sunday devotions, it was part of the first Sunday of Lent. I immediately added it to my daily prayers.

Prayer to the Saint Michael
Prayer of the Day  

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defence against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly hosts,
by the power of God, thrust into Hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world 
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.


I do not recall where I got this prayer from. I have been praying it for a long time. The stained glass is from St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church Waterloo. Click here for a photo essay of the church from a number years ago.

My grandmother who was Presbyterian by and Anglican taught me these prayers we always said them last thing at night and first thing in the morning when we stayed at her place..

℣. The Angel of the LORD declared unto Mary,
℟. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, full of grace; the LORD is with thee: blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.* Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

℣. Behold the handmaid of the LORD.
℟. Be it done unto me according to thy word.

Hail Mary, full of grace; the LORD is with thee: blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.* Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

℣. And the Word was made flesh.
℟. And dwelt among us.

Hail Mary, full of grace; the LORD is with thee: blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.* Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

℣. Pray for us, O' Holy Mother of God.

Note: I only started praying this prayer regularly this spring. I have set a calendar reminder so I get emailed every day at 5 to 12 and pray it when I get the alert. I have similar prayer reminders for other prayers at different points in the day.
