This is the fifth volume I have read by Father Mark Going, and I have read at twice that number from his Saint Mark’s School or Reading. This book is different than the others I have read by Father Mark, but like all the others it is an excellent and well worth picking up.
The description of the book is:
“Proverbs is one of the books of the Bible found in the Old Testament. This booklet is the Douay Rheims translation and includes some illustrations by Sr. Penelope Nguyen, SC. The Douay Rheims is harder to read because of its use of Old English. This volume of Proverbs is meant to be a booklet that gets not only read and prayed but also marked up with underlining, circles, check marks, stars, notes and whatever other markings will help you assimilate the Sacred Text. I'm hoping readers will feast on this rich text and will leave deeply satisfied. A wise person seeks wisdom. An age old practice for students is to read a chapter from the Book of Proverbs in the Bible before each study session. Back when I was involved with Campus Ministries many years ago the Director of Campus Crusade For Christ at one of the annual Student conferences challenges us students to read the books of Proverbs every month for a year, basically reading a chapter a day. It was a real turning point in my spiritual grown and helped lay a foundation for learning for years to come. When I picked this up I took the same approach, I read the Forward and then a chapter a day.

By the time I finished this volume I was reading Treasures in Heaven by Father Goring in it he has 13 prayers to be prayed each of the 40 days opening and closing each with the Sign of the Cross. Of the 7 listed in this volume I already pray each of them most days, I try for each day but occasionally miss. Father Goring in the Forward states:

The extra space on the margins and between the lines make this an excellent study edition for use again and again. There are 11 illustrations by Sister Penelope Nguyen SC interspersed throughout the volume. This would be a great volume to be picked up and worked through again and again during devotions or time of reflection. I do wish there was an eBook edition because of my dyslexia I prefer the eBook format so I can chance the font, font and page colour. But the formatting of this is excellent.
This is another great resource from Father Mark Goring. My son saw me reading this and he has asked to read it next, he has scammed my copy and I will likely order another for myself. I highly recommend this book and especially if used as Father March indicates in the forward. It is a great resource.
