It had been a long time since I got a new bible. Once upon a time I had shelves full of them. And my wife insisted I stop buying more. But this year I got two new bibles. And I could not be more thankful. I received this one and the Spiritual Warfare Bible. Both are from Saint Benedict Press. And both are amazing resources. I picked this up to be a new bible on my desk at work. But being 2020 I have been working from home for a month now. The bible is a little bigger than I expected. I figured if it would be a little smaller than it ended up being. But it is a beautiful bible.
Over the years I have owned many bibles. Catholic bibles, evangelical bibles, mainline Christianity bibles. Most of the non-complete bible I have had over the years that have included Psalms, and or Psalms and Proverbs, have always had them after the New Testament. This one is different. The Psalms are first. Then the New Testament. Interspersed throughout the book are 8 sections for Catholic Men. They are:
The Catholic Man At Home
The Catholic Man In The World
The Virtues
Scripture For Avoiding Vice
St. Joseph the Just
Angels, Our Protectors
Wisdom From The Saints
Special Prayers For Men
There are no endnotes, to footnotes, not even a table of contents. We have the books of the Bible, and the instructions for men. I have read the sections through twice now. And know I will be returning to them time and time again. The bible now sits on my bedside table. And is picked up daily.
This Bible is an excellent resource. Pick it up for yourself, or the men in your life. My son has already taken a keen interest in it, and I will be picking him up his own copy soon.
An excellent resource for Catholic men, and really all Christian men would benefit from this bible.
