Judy Moody is a young girl that easily gets in a mood. When she is in a mood it is not unusual for her to ROAR at people or just out loud. She is a wonderful character to read and her books are great fun for the young and young at heart. And with over 20 books in the Stink and Judy Moody series she is a very popular young girl. Her books have been translated and are enjoyed around the world. With every book I read, I enjoy the writing by Megan McDonald and the Artwork by Peter H. Reynolds even more. Because I have not been reading them in order, it was interesting to go back to this one and see illustrations of Stink before his own line of books started, to see the evolution of Stink as it is. This was another wonderfully entertaining story in a magnificent series!

In this adventure Judy Moody wants to get famous. One of the girls at school has been in the paper and won a tiara, and after asking around, Judy finds out her mother has been in the paper, her little brother, and even both of her best friends. ROAR! Judy tries a number of ways to get famous but either ends up infamous, or cropped out or misspelled. Then she has an idea to do something for other people and though no one knows it was her, she finds her one reward. Again this was a great read and all of the books in the series are worth reading. Give them a try. You will smile, and laugh and maybe it will help you not be in a mood!

This is the second of the Dinosaur Train books that we have read. It is a great fun read. Some of the siblings are asleep but their dad and two of the siblings go on the spooky scavenger hunt. The conductor keeps trying to scare Mr. Pteranodon but keeps failing. During the hunt they must find something using their sense of smell, sound and sight. Then during the train ride back they have a sing song that breaks out into a dance. This is another great story with bright vibrant illustrations. The colors will fascinate younger children and the details will be appreciated and gone over by the older children. The main picture is at the top of the page with text below and train on tracks border down the side of the pages. The characters from the TV series come to life in these books and they will be fun for the whole family.

This is an interesting sound-enabled board book. It is much better than many we have in that the batteries are easily replaced. We have had a few books where there was no way to change the battery after it died without destroying the book. This one was well planned and thought out. Secondly it is designed to teach children the animal names, and some sight words. The photos of real animals are great. The sounds are okay, and overall a wonderful little book for children.

This book is a First Flight Book. The First Flight Leveled readers are geared to grade levels - Level 1 - Pre-School, Level 2 - Grades 1-3, Level 3 - Grades 2-4 and Chapter Books Grades 3 and up. This volume falls into that last category. These books are designed to match reading development and are geared for specific skill levels. But the great thing about this book is you can read it to younger children and they will love the story and as they get older it will be right on track for them to read for themselves.
Kenneth Oppel is a Canadian icon when it comes to writing. With over 25 books published, from picture books to adult thriller, he has done it all. This chapter book for young readers is awesome. The story is fantastic, the illustrations fun and the quirkiness of the combination makes it a great read.
